Thanks for posting this. I have a 2 year old miniature who has just done this.. and it's helpful to find others going through the same thing. I am opting for rest therapy rather than surgery as well.

your dog look thin and in good shape , how old is he ? my dog is starting to show symptoms; nonetheless he is still very hyper and active, but if i touch his back he will cry.
Am going to take him to the vet today.

I have a dachshund/husky. She has a ruptured disk and paralysis in her back legs. She has been on pred. for 3 days and crate rest for 2. im hoping she gets better. I cannot afford the surgery

how do u prevent this, this is my biggest concern , i help fortify him with glucosamine and have pillows near the edge of my bed when he jumps

Hang in there, a Kong with frozen yogurt I always a good treat when they start to get restless. 8 full weeks of crate rest is best.

A scene I know all too well. My little one recovered from her first episode in a few weeks, but 1-1/2 yrs later, we have another episode which is much worst. Can't afford the surgery and am hoping cate rest and TLC w/some meds will get her through.
you do not need the surgery, crate rest for the full 8 weeks, no matter how much they whine, trust me I learned the hard way. Dodger's list is excellent for info and support.

You can only do so much, no jumping, keep then thin, try adding Auum oil too.The pillow can actually do more harm, they are not a flat surface. We are going to implement to dogs on the bed unless we are there with them., even if we have stairs only 1/2 use them...the two that have has herniated disks!!
