The Medicaid program imposes high costs while generating poor results. This Center for Freedom and Prosperity Foundation video explains how block grants, such as the one proposed by Congressman Paul Ryan, will save money and improve healthcare by giving states the freedom to innovate and compete.

  • Of course Medicaid is a budget buster, oh wait that's because our health care costs in this country are higher than almost any other country in the world now, oh wait and because of that employers don't want to give health care plans to their employees anymore, oh wait and because of that Obama and the Dems had to pass a failed Health Bill that is largely unfunded in the future.

Neither political party wants to truly tackle and solve the economical and sociological issues facing this country...

  • Medicaid, Medicare, & Social Security all need to be phased completely.

  • @MrMentalflossed

The top 2% pay more overall and in a % collected than in any other industrialized nation in the world. Maybe you need to start to come to terms with reality and this might not be an issue of illegitimate taking from anyone.

  • Another terrific Cato video with Dan Mitchell. Part of a free market system is to allow individuals to determine pricing with their own dollars. Another reform, however, is to remove artificial supply constraints. In the case of healthcare, that would mean allowing rapid expansion of medical schools. Rapid increase in healthcare services capacity combined with a free market demand structure would result in better, cheaper healthcare for all.

  • great video!

  • If welfare reform is such a big success then why are 54 million people in the US on welfare?

Welfare is NOT a success but it could be.

1.If you have a baby while on welfare, you lose your welfare benefits.

    2. Must pass monthly drug tests to get welfare. If you fail, you lose welfare.

    3. Must enroll in work training program while on welfare. Then when training over, you must seek employment.

  • perhaps when the top 2% pay there fair share this would not be an issue of illegetimate taking from our seniors. clearly the republican wealth devide has progressed far enough. and clearly the humanity thing to do would be to maintain the programs they paid into all these years and not steal their funds to give a tax break to wealthy people that not only do not pay there own way, but steal from the old lady they pretend to help across the road.

  • Whoever the next president is they need to make CATO a part of the cabinet.

So glad you pointed out the third party payer problem and how it increases the quantity demanded.

Good video. Throw more facts in about every 30 seconds or so. The kids like it.

  • “Fascism should rightly be called [crony] corporatism, as it is the merger of corporate and government power.” ~ Benito Mussolini

The Fed, IRS & “Progressive Statism” gives corrupt crony corporatist politicians the power to redistribute, borrow, debase & regulate to centrally plan i.e. BUY “support” from Unions, “Too Big to Fail” Corporations, the Military-Industrial Complex & Wall Street cartel.

Why and HOW all the Statism possible?

Watch: “Statism's Assembly Line” on YouTube.

  • Or, end federal welfare and put it back with the individual states.
