I followed YouTube's instructions precisely and any poor resolution is on their end.

thank you for the video....i am planning on doing this ride this year...my first double century...I just hope i am well prepared ( and i don't die along the way), i done only ONE single century ride in the past...that was last year, what would you say is the most important advice to survive this craziness? thanks in advance.
That's easy--don't go out too fast! Through the first half of the climbing (~first1/4 of the ride) you should feel like you're going too slow and holding yourself back.
And keep taking in usable calories from before you start riding. I used Hammer Perpetuem.
thanks for the vid- may have to ride it someday. About the resolution - i've never posted a video, so i'm far from an expert, but when i watch some videos it gives me an option to watch in high def., but not this video. Hmm...??>? aloha from hawaii
So, this is the deal. At the time this was posted, YouTube limited to 10min & 100MB. So that was what I targeted. Since has gone to 10min & 1GB so now one can target higher quality. However, I tested this with one of my newer vids and found YouTube "hi-def" lacking and still much poorer quality than at Vimeo where I've long since moved to.
(continued) There's ALOT of climbing, no shoulders and people driving 55. I've been meaning to post a video of the road, pretty sure you will enjoy it. so I'll let you know when I get around to recording it. If you would like, of course.
(doesn't word limit suck) Actually, the toughest traffic is on the return (past the Indian casino) once the mountains have been past until the return into the side farm roads. If you're looking for an insane ride, try "The Beast"--Bear Creek Road in the Santa Cruz mountains.
Congads man, very impressed. Thats a LONG ride. I just started recently and can probably push out only 60 on my mountain bike. It looks like an amazing ride, I am jealous. There is a nice road around here that a couple people ride, though I think it requires a certain amount of insanity to ride.
Yes, you are quite right. There was 8710' of climbing for my ride, of which some 8400' was stacked between what would be miles 30 and 140 of the DDC course. With the route change due to road conditions, the course now goes up and over Cobb Mountain, adding some 1000' in climbing both overall and in extra continuous climbing. So get out there and give it try! :-)
Well thanks, buddy. I am happy how well the speed up (to hit under the YouTube 10 min. limit as well as make it viewable) went but I have greater disappointment as to the loss of resolution coming out of YouTube. But alas, as a YouTubian, now I know. I do hold out hope of someday YouTube doing some sort of HD upgrade but I imagine this would still require a resumbit since YouTube may well not keep the higher quality original.

It's a great time and a great accomplishment.
