it's a recurring theme among funny broad trios: a dim wit, a sassy sexpot and a sensible straight-man: check it; on the film 9 to 5, you had violet, the sensible one, dora-Lee the sexy one and jane fonda, the dim wit. golden girls, u had rose dorothy and blanche; at mel's diner u had vera, alice and flo......... and to a tiny extent the same thing on 'living single'.

Polly Holiday {Florence Jean Castleberry} was one of the best female sitcom parts ever. Outside of MTM of course. Polly played the part so realistically that you really grew to like and care for her character. When she left the show it just wasn't the same. But i am surprised that over all these years that the three ladies {and rest of the supporting players} never got back together to do a reunion show. Only thing i can think of is that there must be some bad blood still.

@PrincessGina30 You posted two years ago about Flo on Alice. She left the show because they gave her own show though it was short lived. I wish they had brought her back. instead of Jolene and Belle. I think Linda Lavin must have been jealous.

I hated when Polly Holiday got her own show and it didn't last. I wish she had it written in her contract that she could have come back like "Florence" on The Jeffersons. Her show didn't make it either. You got to have a straight person to balance the funny one. Probably, Linda Lavin was very jealous because she was definitely funnier and got more laughs.

Polly Holiday graduated from my college, University of Alabama. She was a music major. This was way before I got there, but she did come and visit and ceremoniously used a shovel for a new building on campus. Unfortunately, I saw it only in the yearbook. She's from Alabama. She was always funnier than Alice and I have read that she was kind of nasty. When Belle came on, the original Flo from the movie, she quit. She didn't get along with Linda Lavin.
