@WFCoW what scientist doesn't want a nobel prize for a major discovery?

@fuerer24 Agreed. Faith is not knowledge - never was and never will be! Unsophisticated religious people have no business criticizing things they can't possibly understand. Besides, gullible people who are especially vulnerable to manipulation often find it easier to accept what they're told rather than rigorously examine their long-held, cherished beliefs. Without a basic understanding of reason, logic, the scientific method or the principles of critical thinking, it really isn't surprising.

@TomDavid88 I have no difficulty believing that whatsoever! LOL It would seem that science will always be hampered by the character flaws and personal inadequacies of us fallible human beings - among so many other things as well.

@andromidius If I wasn't clear before then allow me to clarify: two of the biggest obstacles science has ever encountered - religion & funding aside - are the arrogance and obstinacy of would be scientists whose time has long since past and who find themselves in seats of power or positions of influence. This is primarily what I was criticizing. On another note, math is NOT science but rather its servant, so forgive me if I don't buy into every half-baked, mathematical claim that comes along.

@andromidius Until scientists are able to prove the existence of dark matter empirically rather than merely extrapolate its existence mathematically, then as far as I'm concerned it remains nothing more than a theoretical construct conveniently presupposed to explain the inexplicable, and I shall remain skeptical. In fact, some would describe such mystical phenomena as either supernatural or magical. BTW, please don't confuse criticism with mockery because they are certainly not the same.

@FlipperundLopaka And lots of it! Its almost certain that's how the universe started, all the evidence points to that conclusion.
42, case closed...!!;-)

What really annoys me is we've got these crusty old curmudgeons who are emotionally invested in dubious theories, entrenched in their beliefs and who essentially are nothing more than obstacles to true scientific progress - obstacles that in many cases influence funding. Science is no place for foolish old men with excessive egos! Sadly, this has been the bane of truth-seeking for centuries. We are soooo overdo for a renaissance!!!
