How do spin an ultra short, luxury fiber like yak down? Lemme show you how!
I would suggest spinning fine singles and navajo plying to get a thicker yarn to knit from. This fiber has a tendency to want to spin fine as well. There is really no need to prep the fiber as it should already be in batt form when purchased because of the fly-away nature of the dawn. Most producers will have already done part of the work for you.

  • Thanks so much for all the postive feedback! If anyone is unaware, I am doing a fundraiser to raise the funds to replace a RAM chip in my puter that is crappin out, making it impossible to edit video to upload to youtube. I have two more waiting to be edited! You can find my fundraiser page at rexenne. chipin. com/ new-1gig-ram-chip (take out spaces). I appriciate every little bit that helps! Thanks for your consideration and support!!

  • O.K but how about telling us what ratio you are using, type of wheel, double or scotch tension etc

  • Why? It is not relevant to anything and the double draft will not be done any differently on a different wheel, ratio, or what-have-you. If you watch the video, you will see my Ashford Kiwi in use.

  • that is so wild... i was just reading about double drafting in a spinning magazine and had decided that it's just too hard for me to try. after watching the video, i think it's in the realm of possibility! thanks!

  • Yep, that would be Spin-Off. That is where I first saw it too and I agree, the text and picture are not clear at all. I had to read over it several times before I got an idea of what they were trying to explain.

  • Thank you all for your kind comments!! Nice people ROCK!!
