Gelsey is my favorite in this role, but Makarova is excellent, as always.

@LadyFan05 r u serious?! of course it's a ballet!! and it's one of my favourite too!!!

@nonnoricky Hold it! Is Don Quixote a ballet, too?!?

I have a high level of respect for ballet dancers. Three words: TOES OF STEEL. ^_^

Huh. Not as good as I was expecting (I'm surfing this variation from one performer to another at the moment), based on -- among other things -- her Juliet. A little stiff and even shaky at times.

I believe that the Russians plan to honor her at the Mariinsky in November on occasion of her 70th birthday.

@bang2b: That's a really interesting remark. I love Kirkland as Giselle, I think that the gentle fragility she brings to the role (and not just in terms of her physical appearance) suits the character very well. However, you are right, it's what she does: she makes Giselle into Gelsey, just as, in other ways, she makes Kitri and Swanilda into Gelsey.

i'm really looking for this music, could someone please tell me? it would really help me!

Hey, I'm looking for a summer intensive somewhere in America preferably... anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

this is makarova...
She's incredible, but she's second best in this to me, tied with Fracci. Gelsey Kirkland will always BE Giselle of all the performances I've ever seen live.

she looks a lil bit awkward, I prefer her in other performances, such as swan lake or don quixote. However i agree with the fact that she's amazing.
