I agree - it took way too long to close the door!!! They built this underground city, the arks and the holding platforms!!! Yeah right!! I am with you, it was way out there.

I saw a preview for this and I got the impression that the only selling point of the movie would be the special effects. Your review pretty much solidifies that for me. I do like John Cusack so I might end up watching this at some point. I'm actually surprised that Tom Hanks isn't the star. I don't know, it just seems like the type of movie that Hanks would be called first for.

If the movie was more about research - then yes, you are right - Tom Hanks would have been perfect. They didn't go into the history of what was happening much. John Cusack did a great job as the ordinary dad that saves the world!!
