DENVER OFF the WALL
Urban Art Fest, July 18, at
Lincoln Park, is a day long
event engaging up to 20 teams
of artists to make art, not
marks. As part of the citys
tagging prevention program,
this event will show urban
artists there are other outlets for
recognition of their work. The same day the City of Denver presents its annual free
concert, Latino Rhythm, also in Lincoln Park, near the La Alma Recreation Center on
11th and Mariposa.
Starting at 10 a.m., the teams of as
many as six members, will present
their sketches
and begin work on 4 x 8 foot mural
boards. The teams will vie for
several prizes judged by
established local mural artists:
Jeremy Ilibarri, Irvin Wheeler,
Arlette Lucero, Xavier Flores, Ralph Maestas, Amanda Wiese, and Brian Olsen. Awards
will be presented at 5:45 as part of the Latino Rhythms concert. Murals are also
available for sale, and art and music activities are scheduled throughout the day to
keep participants and viewers
entertained.
In addition to support from the City of Denver, sponsors include Wahoos Fish Taco,
Xcel Energy, IndyInk, the Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association, Denver Partners
Against Graffiti, Jose Aragon Real Estate and Avalon Medical Spar.
