  • @Texarmageddon ....cont'd

For example.... AEM's boost controller.... $300, a replacement solenoid is about $150 from AEM... I can get the same solenoid for about $45. Most bc's use the same solenoid.

Oh and the wideband o2 sensors? The sensors themselves are VOLVO part numbers which cost about $75. The electronics are the most expensive after that because most of it is made "in house" and they charge a premium for a replacement.

    Its all about doing homework.

  • @Texarmageddon Its not "cheap" power by ANY means.... the average price for STS' Kits are in the $6k area. Most turbo and supercharger kits cost about as much if not more.

A "custom" setup is going to cost less because the individual parts can be sourced through the actual manufacturer of a specific part than going to a vendor.....

  • @Texarmageddon I can make both in-bay and rear mount turbo kits that will make the same or more power than STS' kits for less money using higher quality, off-the-shelf parts. But I cant "sell" them as a kit because of STS holding a patent on it.

The hard part is getting the tuning down. Im still taking classes through EFI101 learning all I can. I currently know a few excellent tuners that I can rely on for tuning.

  • @rotor13 or are you saying you can take a in-engine-bay turbo and make a better remote turbo than sts?

  • @rotor13 buy it for the noise? You sure mate? I'm pretty sure it's because it's cheap power. No one cares about your ability to make your own front mount turbo... it's a remote mount video so we want to hear your ability to make remote turbos

  • Thumbs Up if you were listening for the crash.

  • @scottiethebody0 And most of the people who buy into the STS hype, only buy it for the noise it makes as thats how they were originally marketing their kits..... by going to car shows and revving the shit out the cars and then putting them on a dyno (easily fudging numbers) to create the hype.

  • @scottiethebody0 What you think, is not what you know...

STS uses bottom of the barrel parts. Look up the part number for their oil pump, and look at the horribly inefficient turbo sizing and the low quality wastegate..... those 3 major parts are not worth the metal they are made of.

And the worst part, is they made it a monopoly making a patent on the design, and priced it way too high.

I can take a true in-engine-bay turbo kit and make more power for less money than an STS kit.

  • @yesac41 if you have to ask, you dont have enough...... you have a computer... SEARCH

  • ill give respect to the jap cars cuz you can get some pretty impressive power out of them BUT when it all comes down to it ("IT" being money) if you put the same amount of money into a 4 or 6 as you do an 8, v8 will always gain more hp then the 4 or 6, there is no replacement for displacement.....no not even the biggest turbo you can buy ricer boys lol
