Protesters March Ahead of Olympic Torch Relay

Officials are preparing for massive demonstrations during the Olympic torch's relay in San Francisco, the only North American stop on its journey to Beijing. Activists are protesting China's human rights record and its grip on Tibet. (April 8)

Should have thought about the ways of the Chinese before they approved the Olympics in Beijing. Sure, the Tibetans have the right to protest, but we can't stop the freaking Olympics just because the board was too stupid to have any foresight in China's actions. Live out the consequences; too bad nobody looks back and realizes how many people warned against China hosting the Olympics in the first place. The money is the only thing that matters with the board... that's why they don't think.

The Olympics is ALL politics. The reason why the olympics was created was not as a sporting event, but to keep peace and unity among nations. If the chinese has a history of oppressing the Tibetan people, why shouldn't countries against human rights violations protest?

Tibet pissing off china is "Setting China back"?! Wow. Unbelievable. Imagine a neighboring nation with superior firepower coming to our fair nation, killing our holy people, trashing our churches, forcing us to stop worshipping, killing our kids, etc. Now, if you're "pissed" at that genocidal nation, are you a jerk, or righteously angered? Should you lay down to the attack, hand over your family, or fight it? What does America do? (Sadly, what did we do to the Native Americans too???)

Wow. I cannot believe some of these posts. Tibet was a free nation, and invaded, and is subject to genocide of a sort. True, these shots are "unlike most Tibetans"- they've had their arses handed to them by the Chinese. What has happened to them is truly a tradgedy. FYI, the Dalai Lama is a pacifist to his detriment, I think, and he does not kill people and use their bones- that's not the deal. You need to look into this before you judge that pacifist man.
