Nine girls will travel to Dublin in April to compete in the World Irish Dancing Championships. The McAleer School of Irish Dance has performances at 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wilmington Drama League theater to raise money for the dancers (2/23/11)

  • @libseyton I kick my butt in heavy shoes all the time and I don't even feel it! :D That's pretty much the only advantage to having a little extra padding back there lol :/ But seriously... where did you hear that you aren't supposed to kick your butt in heavy shoes?!

  • @uofc57 When people use to Irish dance, it was after church on Sundays. They were all in their Sunday best with curled hair and the whole nine yards. Now we wear the wigs because we want to keep the tradition of the curled hair, but falling asleep with curlers in your hair (the kind you need for Irish Step, at least) kills your head. Most moms give up on dealing with their grumpy seven year olds and just get the wig.
