Al Jazeera has gained exclusive access to the Taliban in the north of Afghanistan as this report from Alan Fisher in Kabul makes clear. The Taliban has announced it is to launch a major offensive to coincide with the first day of Ramadan. Called Nasrat or victory, it is warning of an increase of suicide bombings, ambushes and attacks against the enemy. The offensive comes as the Taliban claims its gaining support outside its traditional southern strongholds. The group says it now has a foothold in Kapisa province, about 50km north of Kabul, and claims most of the district of Tagab is under its control.

US Army Suicide Rate Continues to Rise By Al Pessin Pentagon 29 May 2008
The U.S. Army reported Thursday that the suicide rate among its soldiers continued to rise last year, and is now nearly double the rate recorded before the invasion of Iraq. But they say last year's increase was not as sharp as the two previous years. VOA's Al Pessin reports from the Pentagon
After six years of US-led military support and billions of pounds in aid, security in Afghanistan is "deteriorating" and President Hamid Karzai's government controls less than a third of the country, America's top intelligence official has admitted.
Afghanistan is just a bar down the street from America we hang out at to fight our enemies rather then fight them at home. The Taliban can ambush well at times, and even raided lowly armed fortresses well in the past. But that's it!They "CONTROL" nothing. They shoot, we shoot, they run, ALWAYS!Haha And when they do pitch a fight, we kill all of them. No we aren't going anywhere, and now in America we have Veterans concealed in civilian clothes on every street corner in case you come here BITCH!
aljazeera is promoting Alqaeda and Taliban and terrorists. the Taliban will never control the northern Afghanistan. they couldn't even they were in Kabul. if you are hiding in bushes and behinds women and children it is obvious that the Afghan security forces will have a hard time to guess where you are but show yourselves and see what happens.
