This is a practice for myself. Please give me some suggestion and let me know what do you think.
1. added some combine structure for a detail background.
2. added a flashlight on the gun of a combine soldier.
3. added snowflakes using particle system.
4. replaced the burning apc with a combine apc.

  • looking better, keep on it

how is it done btw, if you mind sharing the basics to reproduce

would this snowstorm effect be viable for a multiplayer level, fps wise, or does it kill framerates?

  • at this rate you will finish episode 3 before Valve.

  • Looks like combines are mobilizing near Borealis :D

Nice work man, some suggestions as a fellow mapper I can give:

-Combine soldiers are passing by to frequently maybe increase the respawn timer and add that some come and go from a different direction

-Try adding a passing combine train in a bit of distance with distant sound

-Maybe reduce a fog a little bit

-Any kind of passing combine vehicle would be cool, maybe something flying :D

-Make that strider patrol some circular pathway

  • too bright and laggy. but good for an practice

  • Nice! More games need snow

  • Amazing!!!!!!! :D!!!!

  • DO WANT

  • I like the part where the Strider and the Hunter are chatting.

  • @rookiehy2 Very nice, although the snow particles look a bit too dark; kind of like ash.

  • @rookiehy2 So how did you make this? Can you send me a PM?

  • I consider myself to know a fair bit about the SSDK and I've tried several times to recreate a snow scene like this, how are you able to make the fog so thick without sacrificing frame rates, I've tried using several things but none of them seem to work. I have gotten quite close to replicating something like this but it all seemed rather dead - Basically what I want to know is how did you produce the fog/snow - Was it with particles or with something else.

    Please respond.
