Did George Lucas rape your childhood? Did The Phantom Menace ruin your life?

Sure The Phantom Menace was a bad film, but could a movie possibly cause so much pain as to ruin a childhood dream?

In 2002, just before and after the release of Attack of the Clones, I stopped and asked a group of young filmmakers and actors about Star Wars. They had all been big Star Wars fans as kids, and most of them would no longer call themselves such. This one raises more questions than it answers and has some funny bits in it. For anyone who loves or hates Star Wars - or both.

Shot during the filming of Gorilla Interrupted, Gods of Los Angeles and Ghostbusted 2. You might know Mike Stoklasa from his Red Letter Media reviews of Star Wars and Star Trek.

I'm always astonished at how bad the prequels are. They didn't ruin my childhood because they were coming out when I was still young and I hadn't even seen the originals yet, so I'm not quite as mad as people who thought these movies "Raped their childhood." It's amazing that they were allowed to be so bad and that george manages to be intelligent and completely insane/retarded. The real tragedy is that some fans can't watch the originals without being reminded of the prequels or the marketing
