haha yeah, that's funny because I was told to go, but you're out in the middle of no where so you can hear the train from far off. The signals also gave you a clue when one was coming. This will become my favorite spot and I will return with a video camera next time I go.

Thanks! I found this hotspot listed in a guide published by Kalmbach books, and while I was in Albuquerque on vacation I decided to check it out. It's a very active spot with lots of mixed freight, intermodals and passenger trains to and from Albuquerque passing through.
It's interesting because on either side of the crossing there is a hill, so the trains have to work uphill and you can hear them coming for a while before you see them. Plenty of time to establish your shot.
