This is the final product of my 2nd year (1st semester) project for a digital media class at university. We had to work on an architectural visualisation and I chose to mix things up a bit and use a game engine for the rendering, which also let me teach myself UDK.
The building and surrounding environment is based on the Roman Ludus and terrain from the TV series 'Spartacus Blood and Sand' and 'Gods of the Arena'.
Ive mostly used 3Dsmax for the modelling, but did a bit in Blender as well. Level blocking was done in UDK and Gimp/Photoshop for 2D texture work.
I did a lot of preproduction, including drawing up some blueprints for reference from scenes in the series and an entire design/planning document to refer to thoughout the duration of the project.
I also purchased the '11 day level design' tutorial series by Alex Galuzin which helped me get into UDK a lot faster and start getting results straight away, its a great tutorial series and I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to get into UDK:

I had a lot of issues finishing this, Id already finished a more rushed version of this cinematic, which was what I handed up for the project, but as it was rushed and not as polished as Id wanted I decided to spend more time on it before uploading here.
Unfortunately I had a major setback when the project files stuffed up, and then again when I upgraded my laptop with a new HDD. Luckily Ive had a bit of spare time during mid semester break and forced myself to sit down and finish the cinematic. (Finally!!)
*A Ludus is a roman building where gladiators are trained for battle, the upper story is a nicer villa where the house owner and their slaves live.
Music is from the Blood and Sand series soundtrack.
So what'd you get on your project? :)

@xDesolateStudios As in my grades for it? It was split into several different parts for the marking, but overall I got a high distinction for that particular class because of this project :)

So where is the Cinematic Scene because all I am seeing is a flyby.

@welge8 Really? Might want to watch it again, theres several more shots that just 'a flyby'. A cinematic doesnt have to consist of shots involving characters etc. This one is simply to show off a level: so it involves several shots of the level. Check out some other UDK cinematics on youtube, theres a lot in a similar fashion.
