Fue una oportunidad muy especial encontrar estos pájaros que tenian nido en una loma de tierra atras de la casa de mi tía.
Super Special opportunity to have caught these birds as they made a nest in a mound of dirt behind my aunt's house::::::::
The Cuban Tody is endemic to Cuba and is thought to be the oldest surviving member of the Tody family which is confined to the Greater Antilles and comprises 5 species. Cuban todies pair for life, and have striking courtship patterns, including showing their bright pink sides. They breed from April to June, first digging burrows in earthen banks, within rotten logs, and in natural limestone cavities. Tunnels are usually about 1 foot in length, with a chamber at the end. The white eggs produced by the female, usually three to four in number, are the smallest of the todies.
