I knew from about four years ago, approximately, that Richard Chamberlain was the first to interpret this song. But I did not know where to find it and listen it. Thank to essential3883 have uploaded this song on to Youtube. It's a good interpretation, but there is no point of comparison with the arrangements of Richard and Karen's vocal, The Carpenters.

My favorite of all this song's versions I've heard so far is Dusty Springfield's, but this one isn't bad at all. Surprised it didn't do better.

I think he had/has a fantastic voice, and I have always been surprised that this wasn't exploited more in the sixties. Many entertainers with a voice 100 times worse than he has, managed to make a living from their voice when they shouldn't have done! - and yes he's a brilliant actor also!!!
