  • I think he had/has a fantastic voice, and I have always been surprised that this wasn't exploited more in the sixties. Many entertainers with a voice 100 times worse than he has, managed to make a living from their voice when they shouldn't have done! - and yes he's a brilliant actor also!!!

  • I didn't know Dr. Kildare recorded this pre-Carpenters

  • Love it.....Richard Chamberlain is very special!

  • I knew from about four years ago, approximately, that Richard Chamberlain was the first to interpret this song. But I did not know where to find it and listen it. Thank to essential3883 have uploaded this song on to Youtube. It's a good interpretation, but there is no point of comparison with the arrangements of Richard and Karen's vocal, The Carpenters.

  • Didn't he steal this from "Close To You" by Richard Evans?

  • this isn't at all bad in a Robert Goulet-esque 60s way....came at this after being directed to it as a bit of Carpenter's trivia

  • I never knew he sang. Great voice. I was ever changed by his performance in THE THORN BIRDS. A true Gentlemen in this age of crass, classless men. GQ to the end.

  • Wow? who knew?

  • I love Karen, but this version is pretty good...

  • My favorite of all this song's versions I've heard so far is Dusty Springfield's, but this one isn't bad at all. Surprised it didn't do better.
