When I get a chance I will stop by the cemetery where this man is buried and put flowers on his tomb.

Tribute - 28.October 1914 was born DR JONAS SALK, medical researcher, POLIO VACCINE produced at 1954.

There should be a National Monument to this man. Only big Pharma would probably Lobby against it, free medicine is not good for capitalism.

"Can you patent the sun?" Thank you, Dr. Salk.

truly a great human being. we honor so many people throughout history who have killed millions for their own personal glory, exploited resources for nationalist purposes, while truly the people who should hold the highest praise are those that have saved potentially billions of lives of their own and future generations with no desire for glory. if there was ever a saint on earth, it was jonas salk.

Prior to the vaccine there were 50,000 cases per year in the United States. After we are at about 10 cases per year. The newest strategy is to only give the killed vaccine (4 doses) which is much safer. You are right, tho, the 10 cases are from the vaccine (attenuated-OPV), very sad indeed. We haven't seen a "wild-type" case of polio in the US since 1979. Amazing.

Thank you Jews :)

This man is wonderful. Hear his morals when he says " You wouldn't patent the sun would you"? Can you think of any pharmaceutical company's today that think like this? Moreover, has anyone since Mr. Salk given humanity a cure for anything? The answer is no... and certain groups will go out of their way to make sure it doesn't happen.

@truvelocity Jonas Salk didn't WANT to patent the vaccine. Unlike a lot of people in today's world, he didn't care about fame and money.
