  • That was excellent! The way I was making my drums was so long and awkward. Seeing this has changed everything. Very valuable information. Thanks.

  • The African Djembe' often looks rather Primitive.....but try using ONE piece of chord and stringing one in it's entireity.

It's a Job...! The Goatskin head is a much more plyable head than conventional Cowhide most often used on Congo drums. One can lean how to play for hours on end without the soreness of cowhide drum heads. In other words, The Djembe is quite an advantage in drumming...!

  • beautiful!

  • muy ilustrativo gracias

  • nice flim respect

  • I used paracord for mine. very strong but thin. With a slip knot for the diamonds when I need to tighten it i just pull on the end and it comes undone like a dogfood bag.Plus you need not pull the entire length through each knot so its saves time at a circle so you can get back in there quicker.

  • @djembeboy218 you need to have the skin just wet enough to fit over the ring after that the less wet it is the faster it'll dry. i usually poke hole on the edges of the skin and tie it over the ring with dental floss like a frame drum this way it real tight when wet. pull the vertical strings to keep it on. then do the real pulling after its dried for 72 hrs.

  • Very cool work.

  • The rim or the inside of the bowl? It is carved in there, but if it were not smooth, it would probably not resonate as well. More of a finishing touch between a tourist drum and a playable drum. Many drums are lathe turned today and there is a splintered area where the bowl joins with the trumpet. Feel inside one next time you look at it.

  • You have got to admire these guys... They are the real professionals!

  • dont ring the skin out or hit it to get the water out. u need it wet and malleable to get on on and make it sound good after its dry
