In the space of just a few months during 1905, the centenary of which we are celebrating this year as International Year of Physics, Einstein published several papers that were to change the face of physics:

He proved mathematically that atoms exist (in his Brownian motion paper). Until then scientists could not agree on whether matter was made up of atoms or not.
He proved that light is lumpy. It is made up of tiny particles we now call photons and not as continuous waves. So this is sort of like saying light is also made up of light atoms. This he did in his paper on the photoelectric effect, which was to win him the Nobel Prize in 1921. Just consider that without this work we wouldn't have solar panels. So when people say Einstein gave us the knowledge to split the atom and hence nuclear power which many perceive as bad, it is worth remembering he also gave us the knowledge to harness solar power.
He then published two papers on his special theory of relativity giving us a new view of reality itself. He explained that Newton was wrong about the meaning of space and time. In fact both time and space can be stretch ands squeezed in a way that might sound crazy but is extremely beautiful. Without relativity they we would not have been able to study the building blocks of matter: the subatomic particles we hurl round accelerators like CERN at close to the speed of light.
In 1910, Einstein explained why the sky is blue! How many people know that?
In 1915, he proved Newton wrong again when he explained that the force of gravity causes space and time to curve. This theory, his general theory of relativity, led to a whole new field of science called cosmology and led to ideas such as the Big Bang, black holes, parallel universes and so on.
In 1917, he described the theory behind the laser. So he gave us the knowledge to invent CD and DVD players.

The very first thing to note about Newton is the date of his birth, 1642. This was the same year as the death of Galileo and some 18 years before the creation of the Royal Society. Thus the transition from an era of superstition, dogma and the persecution of those brave enough to challenge the ancient lore of Aristotle was still in its infancy. But by the end of Newton's life in 1727, the transition to the modern scientific method had been achieved and in this he himself played a decisive role. All subsequent advances, notably those of James Clerk Maxwell and Albert Einstein relied on the principle that simple laws, supported by experiment, can interact to provide an explanation of the complexity of the Universe.

  • @RespectMyHate You have to remember science is a method not a position. Science is always changing with as new evidence comes in. Its a on going process. Science answers the how's not the why's . Its a self correcting system based on imperical evidence at the time. I'm a fan of god and science :D No reason why they can't both mingle in a elaborate dance in the cosmos and then some!

  • I dont get this vid at all ! First of all just want to say its very well put together and well worth watching. What I dont get is the title "Newton and Einstein, perhaps both wrong". HOW are they wrong ? This wasnt discussed in the vid.

  • @betterinfos Obama did not deserve a nobel , thats for sure . Not sure who dropped that ball on that play and actually approved it . I wonder how he sleeps at night , knowing he gave a peace prize , to another psychopath in high political power , who said he would bring us change, but brought us the same old except way more expensive and far more dangerous to the future generations. Oh the burden we are leaving them , yet we continue to go about the day like its not big deal sigh...

  • @betterinfos yea anything dark in science to me , means "we don't know" . yes quasars are quite the little buggers , with spin rates that seem to defy c. I don't ignore them i keep them in mind. I don't accept all einstein theories , heance the title of the video. But to go around bashing the man , because there seems to be some contradictions to his theories , is silly. Science is not 100 percent no? a work in progress , always adjusting it self to new data etc?

  • @yourboycal As if a scientist needs to produce an alternate model, when faced with a model that simply doesn't work (unless you add BS dark matter and dark energy, or ignore quasars, the presence of faster than light particles, etc.). What you say is simply absurd.

And seriously: LOL @ your pathetic Nobel prize. Certainly the prize is awarded frequently to valid researchers, but Obama's peace prize? hahahahahaha. Einstein's is equally politically motivated and suspicious, IMO.

  • @betterinfos "I haven't done: support Israel, be a hateful Zionist, or help build atomic weapons that were used to murder hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in a country that was already beaten. What a disgrace!"

Yes what a disgrace indeed, but did einstein not write a letter to the president and warn him of the dangers of it ? Of course its a disgrace. and i'm not no zionist fan either , they are a pretty big branch of the ugly evil tree

  • @betterinfos You don't have turth, you have half truths mixed into your own version of a truth. I've asked many people on the internet , if you don't believe in einsteins theories thats fine. But where is yours? Bring your forth and produce some experiments that flip the s.r ,and g,r on its head ? But they all they do is go back to their armchairs and critize more without anything else to replace it . Come get your nobel , and prove scientifically that einstein was wrong. To hard?

  • @yourboycal I can easily tell you what I haven't done: support Israel, be a hateful Zionist, or help build atomic weapons that were used to murder hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in a country that was already beaten. What a disgrace!

While you profess to respect everyone (and hence remove all meaning from the term, idiotically enough), I realize that moral censure is important, and even more: that truth benefits all good-minded people. Call a spade a spade.

  • @betterinfos "=> if you bothered to look past the mainstream message, you would see that there is much reason to disrespect Einstein"

there is no reason to disrespect any human being , regardless of there actions. You will just be as ugly as them. Can you tell me how much you have done compare to einstein?

  • @betterinfos Already seen that series including the facist soup website. Although it has many intersting points hardly proves your claims. Einstein has done alot more then most of the electric universe proponents have brought forth. Why don't you get your little buddies to put together a experiment and show me more evidence instead of hearsay ? einstein has put forth many experiments to show his theories in practice and math. Can you do the same?

  • @yourboycal You are so lame. Einstein was a vile man and a plagiarizer: /watch?v=-y09KQxcSjc

=> if you bothered to look past the mainstream message, you would see that there is much reason to disrespect Einstein. Don't give me the zionist propaganda about their 'intellectual hero', who is in fact no better than Bernie Madoff. All image, no desirable substance = pathetic individuals.

  • @betterinfos atomic energy , gps , Brownian motion , satilite calculations based on his special and general relativity etc. He did alot , you can't take that away from the man and call him a fraud who stole other peoples work lol . What evidence do you have for this ? just because he worked at a patent office? sure seems easy doesn't it , and with winners writing history and what not lol . But no , i don't believe he did. What about newtons calculations to moon ? it was off no?
