Running daily is quite an undertaking for a small volunteer railway but the Gwili decided to try it this year. Having made the decision, the two steam locos went on strike and "Jennifer" was hired from the Llangollen Railway. I went to film this, but found that Jennifer was not running that day - whether broke or weekly washout I didn't discover. What I got was the Class 14, no. 14901, seen from the temporary platform at Cwmdwyfran, erected for special events.

To tell you the truth, I went to a book to verify what i believed, but my memory was at fault, the book was on BR Standard STEAM locomotives, not the diesel variety! As for talents, they soon run out when you leave farming and railways!

  • thanks for the info,Alan, are there no ends to your talents? my knowledge only runs to GWR Kings,Castles,Manors,Halls and such.nice vid, something very different

  • To bufferbridge

It was never very successful but was intended, I think, for trip working of goods (trotting from one goods yard to another to exchange trucks). In its day branch line working was still steam, partly because for passenger workings you needed the loco to be fitted for steam heating.

  • in its day would this engine have been a branch line engine, goods engine or shunter?

  • To richard123x1

Thanks Richard - it was not as good as the steam I was waiting for, but at least a decent diesel, and as you say, a nice bit of grunt when they accellerated away from the platform.

  • looks great that loco and sounds great
