@Snako85 The Godfather novel and films were NOT MEANT TO PORTRAY THE MAFIA. The novel and films purpose were to voice and visually tell the story of a powerful family and the dangerous realm they lived in and were happy in. It was to portray CAPITALISM, POWER, POLITICS, and the loss of innocence. It was not to portray the mafia.

@iamductri Actually, The Godfather served as a metaphor for Capitalism, POLITICS (or power/influence), and the loss of innocence...Though when you've watched the movie trilogy many a time, you'll start to realize that the main concept behind the novel as well as the films is both Capitalism and Power.

The Godfather is a great movie but its so unrealistic too it does not portray the Mafia accuratley the viloence is unrealistic especially Moe greenes, Capt McCluskeys and Don Fanuccis(Part II) and it ddoesnt get what the word Godfather means in the Mafia

@lordvoldemort578 yup really. Never met any of the famous Coppolas but we have old photos of the family. My great grandfather's sister married a Coppola & they were Francis Ford's parents.

His great dissecting, attention to detail, hours of painstaking research and great production, amazing actors-- is what makes The Godfather the best movie of all time. Francis is amazing.
