One Little Minute - Alejandra and Jackie

11 year old Alejandra came to Big Brothers Big Sisters hoping to be matched with a Big Sister who she could share new experiences with and learn from. Alejandra is a smart girl who wants to be an engineer when she grows up, but has faced many challenges in her life. She currently lives in a home for children with disadvantaged backgrounds, but strong academic potential.




Alejandra was matched with her Big Sister Jackie in March and since then, their friendship has grown strong. Alejandra get together twice a month and enjoy having new adventures together, whether it's exploring Balboa Island on their bikes, carving pumpkins for Thanksgiving, or going to an Angels game. Jackie supports all of Alejandra's educational goals and knows that Alejandra will attend college and achieve her dream of becoming an engineer. In fact, Alejandra will tell you that her favorite outing with Jackie was when Jackie took her to work with her and Alejandra got to meet a colleague of hers - a female engineer who encouraged Alejandra to follow her dreams.




With the support and encouragement of her Big Sister Jackie, Alejandra has a bright future ahead of her.
