History is Repeating Itself. Are YOU Learning from it?

Whoever takes a look at the state of Muslims today, especially those who are living in the West, he would find that there are a lot of similarities between our situation today and the Kingdom of Andalus, both in its rise and fall. By studying the past, we will understand the present better, in order to thrive in the future.

The journey will start from the prelude in Morocco, the landing conquest in Spain, the victorious expansion to Portugal, the fierce clash with France, the revolution of the extremists, the fall of the Umayyad empire, internal conflicts that lead to the division of the states, and the role of faith and science in the rise and fall of Andalus.

How did the Muslims reach the peak in all fields of science while remaining strong in their faith? How did they coexist with non-Muslims while preserving their identity? How did all what the Muslims built in 7 centuries free fall in just 50 years? How could we repeat their success and avoid their failure? The answer to all these questions will be found in this journey insha'Allah. Together, we will travel in time to The Lost Kingdom to see and live the events that shaped one of the world's strongest empires, to hear tales of faith and courage, to meet and greet prominent leaders and scholars, and to feel the contrast between the taste of defeat and the joy of victory.

Sheikh Waleed Abdulhakeem is the founder and director of Islamic Studies at Ilm Path Academy (www.ilmpath.com). He is also currently the Imam and director of religious affairs at the first Islamic centre in Toronto, known as Jami Mosque. In addition, he is an instructor at Alkauthar Institute, a member of the Canadian Council of Imams, was previously an Imam in several Masjids in the USA, and was the President of MSA for three years. Sheikh Waleed has been invited to speak and teach in several cities across all five continents of the world.
