although i agree Hurt Locker was better, i don't think he should have said Avatar wasn't a movie, that's probably the most insulting thing you can say about somebody's film

The Hurt Locker is the best film of 2009 and that's the truth.

Oh, yeah. Avatar was one-sided against US, right?
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!
PWNED!
THE US MILITARY HAS. NO. ROLE. IN. AVATAR.
THE USA ITSELF HAS. NO. ROLE. IN. AVATAR. END OF STORY. Those were CORPORATE MERCENARIES employed by A MULTINATIONAL CONGLOMERATE and that would be obvious to you if you actually WATCHED THE FILM!
-
Have you seen Jarhead with Jake Gyllenhaal? That's another great war film involving soldier's boredom.
-
In Avatar it was incredibly one sided. US military is evil. Navi are good. US military destroys trees. yet, even though the film is supposed to be promoting peace, the navi respond to that by killing the humans.

teh 10 people that dont like this are people that dont know shit about movies
when i watch avatar i thought "they spent 500 million on this shit"
when i watch the hurt locker i thought "this was the best movie ive seen in years"

@RadioBull What an absurd thing to say. Everyone who liked Avatar is a weirdo? I LOVED avatar AND I loved the hurt locker! So how would you label me then? Don't be such an idiot.

Avatar was above and beyond a normal film. It was a spectacle and immersive beyond the point of belief. My point is stop trading insults (fans of both films) and just appreciate the magic of both. Also look at Cameron/Bigelow/Boal complete respect and admiration for each others films. Personally Avatar was more of an experience than a film. Hurt Locker was brilliant though. However Saldana gave one of the performances of the decade. Amazing performance hampered not enhanced by technology.

i love both films in different ways. Avatar was a brilliant visual. Most definitely. I think most people can agree with that. I fell in love with the land of Pandora and Cameron's creations. I appreciated it. No matter how many times the story line was used or heard of before it was still good :P However, I like The Hurt Locker better because I felt it was more raw and genuine. I dunno it hit the heart. It truly did.
hurt locker was indeed the best film.. without a doubt man.

@12GaugeLosAngeles Sorry, but Avatar is a poor war movie. It just looked good, that's it.
