6:53..."what the fuck you mean, 'Run the tape?'"
-
@seanvogt221 Oops, I meant, "bomb" not "bome" would go off.
-
@Thoralmir They couldn't. The bomb had a proximity-sensitive device on it and if it was moved even so slightly, the bome will go off.

It seemed like every other week in the early 80s a nuclear holocaust movie would come out, this, "The Day After" and "Threads" (most depressing of them al), and maybe a couple more I can't think of. Then it just became part of the background, like in "The Road Warrior," "The Terminator," etc., instead of the main plot. I remember this was pretty good, but I think it never aired again and I can't find it on VHS or DVD either.
-
I knew this movie was some where in someone's file. I remember this movie vividly. Til this day, when I hear about nuclear anything on the news the images of this movie pops up and I start thinking oohhh shit!!! Here it comes!!! Ww3!!! Lol!!! But seriously I thought I would have never found clips of this movie.

@Thoralmir I think one of the physicist-terrorists (the one who was killed next to the bomb) mentioned that among the anti-tamper devices was something that detected motion and would set off the bomb, so the ship couldn't be towed or moved (neither could the bomb, for that matter).

Lol @ Larry, what a dick!

Why the hell didn't they tow that boat out to sea?!
"Run the tape, Meg. Run the tape! I don't give a shit how hurt or sick you are run the damned tape!"

Brilliant, Emmy-winning What If? drama, scared the shit out of me when I first saw it on NBC; later, I freaked out friends w/ the VHS edition (making it look like the real news!). This flick - along w/ "The Day After" - upped the general paranoia quotient throughout North America in the early 1980s. Still makes me nervous watching it. Thanks for posting it.
