Mr. Eustache's "Suite Concertante for World Woodwinds & Symphony Orchestra", was world-premiered on 2-8-09 under the baton of his fellow-countryman & most celebrated young orchestral conductor in the world, Mtro. Gustavo Dudamel, with his world renown "Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar". This 45 min. long-12 movements-21 solo world-WWs sonic-global 'tour de force' is a 'first' in the concertante-symphonic repertoire. It directly reflects the cultural-interconnected reality of our times: while inspired by different music cultures of the world it is formally based on the western classical music concertante-symphonic tradition.
IV. EASTERN EUROPE 1: ARMENIA: "Sareri Hovin Mernem": "I would die beneath the wind from my plains"... I play this traditional Armenian song, with the unmistakable sound of the Armenian duduk. This piece is arranged in a mirror form [or musical palindrome]: it starts very soft [Piano], with a low drone [DAM, in Armenian], over which the duduk soloes... this is followed by a solo viola & cello, successively added, with the full orchestra coming later to take the climatic central main melodyin major mode. Then, gradually, the energy dissipates reaching the final part, with the same elements of the beginning, but in reversed order... Curiously, this form sonically outlines' the very profile [contour] of mount Ararat, the iconic 'heart' of the Armenian people!
Solo World Woodwind Instrument(s):
Armenian Duduk, Armenian Noro-B'Lul
