I review the Hilleberg Akto tent in a cold wet environment. This is my favorite solo tent except when I'm expecting heavy snow (then I take the Hilleberg Soulo). At 3.5lbs, the Akto is a true four season shelter that can withstand very bad weather while keeping you dry and safe.

If you like this video, consider purchasing some of the gear featured from my Amazon store. It has all been personally tested by me and I know it works:

  • Question I meant to ask while watching your review of the Soulo, What type of wildlife precautions do you have to take on your solo treks? While stationed at Ft Lewis, WA back in the 90's, there was some speculation that Brown Bears (Grizzly) were making a comeback in the Cascades. Wolves or Coyotes?

  • @1BattleRattle If I'm in bear country I won't cook near my camp site and may carry bear spray if it is an area particularly known for bears. I will hang food and toiletries (like toothpaste) to keep away the animals as well. In some areas you have to use a bear canister to keep out animals. Otherwise I don't worry about wildlife because they know enough to stay away from humans. I'd love to see a wolf in the wild but haven't yet.

  • wold this tent work 4 two persons? ex: me 6'5'' + my girl 5'5'' ?

  • @lepycelrau This is a one man tent. You'll need to get a two person tent like the Nallo2 or Allak from Hilleberg for something comparable in size and durability for two people.

  • Hi, I'm 6 foot 3 tall, how well do you think I'll fit in this one?

    Cheers!

  • @TheZaneFace Yes. It's tested with people who are 6'5". Headroom will be tight, but length will be good.

  • @Wintertrekker I sold all my other tents and just use Hillebergs now.

  • @MilesScout21 I'm about 5'8" and my head almost touches the roof when I sit up in the Akto. The Soulo has more headroom but has slightly less vestibule, interior and space near the feet. If I wanted to sit-up in the tent the Soulo would be a better choice if the additional weight is not a factor.
