Abingdon Bun Throwing Tradition on the day of the Royal Wedding of Kate & William, and the sun finally appeared. According to the Abingdon Blog 4000 buns were baked at nearby Millet's Farm. Children and adults had great fun, the bun throwers used those slings that dog owners use to get greater distance. There was a huge crowd of an estimated 5000 people for this event which dates back over 200 years. The first recorded bun throwing marked King George III's coronation in 1761.
