Just to clear up, it was mentioned in this video that mechanics were taken and adapted from LoL, which is 100% bullcrap, Draft/Capts mode where teams ban heroes for the opposing sides have been around since 2004 in the original form of DoTA, which LoL plagiarised the crap out of.
