If we're addicted to oil, our twelve-step program should begin with admitting that we have a problem. As the price of oil creeps higher, finding new energy sources is more important than ever. But the search for alternatives, combined with environmental disruptions, is putting new pressures on other essentials like food. There are some things that are going well in the world. Right now, the economy is not one of them.

Actually Russian scientists found out oil isn't usually made from dead plants/dinosaurs. It is also made when naturally buried methane solidifies under high temperature and pressure near the Mohorovičić Discontinuity (this accounts for most of the unrecoverable oil reserves). You can also make them with various reactors
You can also make biofuels from Algae, with up to 25 times the end-product yield compared to the same surface area and triple the end-product yield per same mass of Corn
@TheTrueSong same here, gas+people = 5 BILLION more people using 6x MORE gas, thus killing the planet...if we got rid of gas the population would drop 90% and stop the climb to global warming/doom ...eventually....we either do that or find another planet to live on. EVERYONE TO MARS! =D
We can fix everything. Just think and be positive but also be realistic and positive. Together the people can fix our problems but if we spend our time complaining we're never to achieve anything. These forums are uselful but if you don't have anything positive to say don't say anything at all.
i love GOOD videos for their high production value, but this one careens into an odd direction. Yes, our dependency on oil is terrible, and there are alternatives to fossil fuels, and yes using food stocks for fuel is a bad idea. What about things like algae for biofuel? and what about rampant speculation and price fixing causing over inflated prices for oil? Not to mention the over use of corn in just about any type of processed food. This video would be better named, Addiction to oil and corn
