If we're addicted to oil, our twelve-step program should begin with admitting that we have a problem. As the price of oil creeps higher, finding new energy sources is more important than ever. But the search for alternatives, combined with environmental disruptions, is putting new pressures on other essentials like food. There are some things that are going well in the world. Right now, the economy is not one of them.

  • @hebay2 I am a member of a Physics research group working to create solar cells with efficiency 10% higher than modern silicon one's and 1/3rd of the cost. Who's doing more for the environment?

  • US, dont worry about your gas prices being high. its half the price than UK's oil prices. taking in consideration difference in liter size, conversion rates etc. US gas/ liter in UK currency, and literage... would be only 69p....

  • @MisterSaiya Good point (:

(i posted that post 7 months ago, how did you find it?)

  • @AaaaghJOE less expensive = used faster. So yeah, it is a worry.

  • thumbs up for justice :3

  • @die101 The technology does exist, and has been used. All you need are coal, water, and electricity. The coal can be substituted with charcoal, meaning renewable petroleum can be made from wood, water, and electricity.

  • It is possible to make artificial petroleum! It can be made with water gas (CO and hydrogen), which is made by blasting carbon with alternating blasts of steam and air. It's already been done in South Africa as a way of getting around oil embargoes, using coal for the carbon. Renewable charcoal would work just as well, I think. Wood, water, and electricity: all renewable, and all we need to make our own oil. Hubbert's peak is just ahead, yet here's a perfect way of avoiding it.

  • im not addictted to oil a can quit anytime i want ;)
