@BBQMyWay They turned out great. I didn't have that special veggie grilling tool though. Still the beer cooked onions were good on the brats.

I never punctured them until I watched this video. I never had any problem with splitting either, and I also have always used Johnsonville. I punctured them last time, and the only difference I noticed was that they didn't plump up quite as much as usual. Not a terribly noticeable difference though.
