D’ror Yikra was composed in the regular meter of Arabic verse instead of the freer syllabification of earlier Jewish poetry. Apparently ben Labrat ensured that his authorship of the song was recognised by spelling his name acrostically in the first letter of each line of most of the verses.
Meaning ‘Let freedom be proclaimed’, this is a Jewish-Yemenite prayer traditionally sung at the Shabbat table. It was composed by Dunas ben Labrat, a 10th century Sephardic Jew, thought to have been of Baghdadi origin, who was educated in Fez, Morocco.
Most Israelis use the Sephardic pronunciation while many American Jews are Ashkenazi and they pronounce words differently. It has nothing to do with Zionism or orthodoxy.
@mravraham4 Uh. yeah. Orthodoxy doesn't change much from its traditions. And anyway, who says the Israeli pronunciation is correct. The Zionists who started the State of Israel were not religious and could care less if they were mispronouncing Hebrew.
your pronunciation is wrong. why are you using the pronunciation of east europe. It is incorrect. you should be using the standard hebrew of Israel. Is it such a problem for orthodoxy to make that change?
