His quickly became a rather muted public front, actually. Speculation regarding a personal memoir circulated, but nothing of substance has materialized. He also received a token one year appointment to the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, but that is historically reserved as a somewhat of a "parting gift" for conservatives, as past recipients include Gingrich and Abizaid. All things considered, he's seemingly politically toxic now, and rightfully so.
