Some supramaximal work to help the top portion of my squat and to get me more comfortable with the walkout when I go for a new max in the next month and a half.

Basically, this setup lets me concentrate on the upper ROM of the squat without risking the instability in the knees caused by reversing direction so high, as in the traditional quarter squat.

This set: 4x315
Current Full Squat Max: ~280

  • Where is your sticking point on the squat?

  • back when this was made, the sticking point was where my knees are bent at about 90 degrees or maybe slightly lower. so those bars probably should have been a notch or two further down.

now, i don't really have a sticking point to speak of. i'm doing regular squatting, rotating between full and parallel depth every few weeks.

  • uh wow u were talkin bout me goin parralel what is this shit

  • uh wow, if you actually read the description you'd see this is supplemental supramaximal work to help with a specific joint angle in the full squat.

and it helped. the max attempt i reference in the description ("in a month and a half") was three days ago, and i went ass to grass with 325 pounds at a BW of 175.

  • Yeah, sorry about that last comment. My browser doesn't refresh well, so I think people are deleting my comments, and I get all offended and comment again, usually sounding like a jerk. All your videos are pretty good by the way.

  • i think that sometimes youtube just takes a while to put them up. i've seen my own comments take a few hours to show up, and a lot of times it takes a while to see others' comments after i get an email notification of them.

  • youre doing it wrong

  • hey adam, its high riser from terminal vertical, good job on the progress so far, how has your training been

  • Your a football player, its diffrent.

  • bullshit you squat 455, probably 105. post a vid or STFU. Partial squats are a great way to improve your squat, they were used by all-time greats like Paul Anderson, arguably the greatest squatter ever.

  • Partial reps are used in squats, deads and benches. Of course they work otherwise people wouldt bother doing them. I would say have a wider stance, the best squatters in the world have a wide squatting stance and it sends ur lits through the roof! I went from a 445 max to 585 after 7 months of wide stance squatting, with a few partials involved of course :-)

  • your a dumbass R3D it's simple principles that he is doing to help out his squat learn about training before you say anything

  • wow was that retarded or what. ive been playing football since 7th grade and at my sophomore year i was squatting like 455. and i never did any of that crap. that was so dumb......

  • i think you're due for a vid to show people what you can full squat. just a suggestion.
