This is one of my favorite Sinatra songs. The orchestration is sublime! And Frank sings it as if he was singing of his own experiences. Truly poetry set to music! There's no one like Frank!

It was a very good year for small town girls
And soft summer nights
We'd hide from the lights
On the village green
When I was seventeen.....>>

A great example of Frank's impeccable timing. So many of his songs have that quality. Amazing orchestration too.

Saw actual film footage once of the recording of this song. After he finished, he listened to it and decided to make it better. I can appreciate that in a man.

This is such an under rated record by the maestro.
The arrangement by, as I recall, Gordon Jenkins, makes the song. Superb orchestration, poignant melodies, a true Meisterwerk comparable to Puccini.

If it is possible for a song to approach perfection, this song, by this man, does.
