From Oscar-wining director Alex Gibney and producer Graydon Carter comes a probing look into the uncanny life of national treasure and gonzo journalism inventor Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. A fast moving, wildly entertaining documentary with an iconic soundtrack, the film addresses the major touchstones in Thompson's life-his intense and ill fated relationship with the Hell's Angels, his near-successful bid for the office of sheriff in Aspen in 1970, the notorious story behind the landmark Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, his deep involvement in Senator George McGovern's 1972 presidential campaign, and much more. Narrated by Johnny Depp.

  • loved this movie.

NO regrets getting a h.s. thompson quote on my chest

    he's so fascinating

  • Sometimes i sit on the toliet backwards and pretend i'm riding a motorcycle

  • some may say Scum and Rotten are Wrong for objective journalism, those people are one of the SCREWHEADS WORKING FOR THE UN if they disagree they are THE DOOMED, and Nixon whats he got to say about all that? "FUCK THE DOOMED"

  • The good news for people like Snotra is that "right wing idiots" out number "the liberal idiots" in American government and media. Frankly we need more Hunter Thompsons to neutalize the affect of the brain washing affect right wing media ( like Fox) has on the American population.

  • Great writer? Indeed. A total grasp on reality? Hardly. The hardest part for me to comprehend is that he was an image of loose fascism. What he wanted was a drug-induced nation of free will and fantasy. He wasn't a human being as much as he was a walking drug experimentation factory. If we all lived like him and believed in complete modern liberalism than we would no longer have the U.S.A., but rather complete chaos controlled by the hero of the moment. An interesting concept, but not realistic.

  • @Snotra Too bad your grammar is idiotic.

  • whats the song at the beginnin its used loads in the movie n on the dvd menus?

  • Great writer...to bad he was a liberal idiot.

  • I stumbled upon this documentary serendipitously last night and it's left me in utter awe of the man, his life and his mind.

  • I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

    Hunter S. Thompson
