I have to add one more thing: I think the sound is not so bad as you think, but for a Nikon D5000 the quality of the picture is quite poor I would say. Black and white
and too much distortion in the picture! Otherwise, nothing then compliments

I doubt either Arturo or your friend will recognize this medley, but as you already said,: it was not a great success (probably also due the fact that the Nikon D5000 never really was invented for sound-recording;-)
And with a body of 1,2 x 2,5 meters it's no wonder that the mic always is closer than you think.
