In June 1953 my dad took my brother and me and his trusty 8mm Kodak on a 10 day "Colorado Rail-Camera Tour" sponsored by his friend V. C. "Nick" Underwood. For me, at the ripe old age of 11 years, It was a life changing experience. By the time we returned home to Columbus, Ohio I knew that some day I would live in Colorado -- and so I have for the past 40 years.
In this first of a three part chronicle of that trip, thanks to the 8mm movies Dad took, we ride The Denver Zephyr and The Prospector and various tour busses as we explore Idaho Springs, Central City and Estes Park. This is truly a glimpse into a bygone era.
The background music is "Spirit of Colorado", composed for and performed by the Denver Citywide Middle School Orchestra in February 2011. Dad's great-grandson was a member of that orchestra.

Is that a FT A-B-B consist on point @ 7:30 ?
Friskens 1 month ago in playlist Trains and more trains
@Friskens Well its some kind of F A-B-B consist for sure. Maybe someone with better eyes and more knowledge of early diesel power can deal with this. What always impressed me about this scene is that there are almost as many units as cars on this train.
