Explanation of the 4 generations: 1st generation = acoustic pianos (from Cristofori to Steinway), 2nd generation = electro-acoustic pianos, 3rd generation = sampled pianos, discussion on its advantages and drawbacks, 4rth generation = physical modelling, advantages: sympathetic resonances, continuous velocity, possibility for the user to change the physical parameters depending on his taste, the music... being both the tuner and the manufacturer, pianoteq = infinitely many pianos, creation of new sounds for extreme settings, random button as starting point for a new sound for composers...
