do you have any idea what socialist state means ? according to your logic we've been a socialist state for a while. we have a military, a police force, public schools, public parks etc.. by socialism do you mean obama will nationalize industries ? I would consider myself a "socialist" and obama is extremely pro status quo which is generally center right. so please spare us the uneducated comments. go research basic terms and economics.

the USA is not getting closer to a socialist state even if you coun't state-capitalism as socialism. The Bush-Paulson and Obama-Geithner gave the banks 100's of billions of $ whilst allowing them to still be run as private corporations. That is just about the least socialist thing they could have done in response to the banking crisis. Universal Healthcare is dead, as is single payer or any other solution that doesn't divert resources from the state to the private sector (again not socialism)
