It is hypocritical of Muslims to reject the validity of the Babi or Baha'i Faiths, as rejection of these faiths would undermine the foundation of Islam itself (of course the same may be said of Christianity - not only picking on Islam here). Muhammad sealed Prophethood and prophetic Messengership until the coming of non-prophetic "Messengers" or those who brought God's messages and guidance, who inaugurated a new Cycle of Revelation for the whole of mankind. These Revelations are in fact better described as having been revealed through "Manifestations" rather than even a term like "Messengers". As explained by Dr. Nasr, the Qur'an is clear that the line of Prophets (Anbiya/Nabis) and Prophetic Messengers (Rusul/Rasuls) came to a certain end. Yet the Qur'an does use the term Risalat and Rasul in a somewhat flexible way, as God is described as having sent or having "Mursil" messages and prophets. The word Mursil is linked directly to the word Rasul and Risalat, in that the one who is the Mursil (Sender) of Risalat (Messages) is for all practical purposes Himself a Rasul or a carrier of a Message.
The Bab inaugurated the beginning of al-Naba (The Great News) which the Nabi of the past came to warn about and prepare for. The Bab is therefore the fulfillment of the Great News. Hence, the Book of the Bab is considered the Mother Book, or the Umm ul-Kitab, which is the source of the Qur'an itself.
Baha'u'llah is the Promised One of the Bab, or the appearance of the fulfillment of the expectations of the totality of all religious experience period. The appearance of Baha'u'llah marks the maturity of mankind's spiritual quest, or is the fruition of the answer to the prayers of all mankind over the past 6000 years of the world's pluralistic religious history. Thank you for your conversation on the glorious Faith of Baha'u'llah!!!
