One Year in 7 Minutes - Charles J Tan

"My year started in June 2010 when the EP went into production in my cold, empty, large warehouse where I lived, ate, slept, wrote, arranged, produced, recorded with my band, Grant and Ritchie. It almost didn't happen, again. There have been at least three, maybe even four failed and stalled attempts at trying to get an EP/Album out. But, 6 months later, in some kind of miracle, The Pelham Sessions EP came to be. And it was a bumper issue too. Who releases 8 songs as an EP. Well, who says you can't?

And then as if it was not crazy enough that the EP release was 10 days short before Christmas, I dropped the word that I was headed overseas for an unspecified duration to "travel the world and the seven seas, just to see what it's all about". I love referencing myself. Doesn't everyone talk to themselves? And another 6 months later, I found myself with a lot of footage. Like, a lot of videos capturing the journey I have taken. Singapore, Malaysia, Los Angeles. I even almost got to Tokyo or Manila. But that's another story.

So the result, summarizing the entire year in 7 minutes. Not exactly, but then again, I have a neck for the bumper packs and rewriting my own rules. It's crazy I know. I get emotional watching this over and over again. Has this really been my year? 45 shows, 3 countries, and a lot of good luck along the way. Someone once made little of the word, adventure. Well, I think I've redeemed it. I made it happen and it's only the beginning of some crazy ass good things to come. And I am grateful, that someone has all along been looking after me all this time. My life is a miracle and only God gets the credit for that. I am unbelievably blessed.

And then, there's YOU, my friend out here, there, somewhere. I may not even know who you are, but if you're here, you're a friend. You're a friend for listening, for being a part of my story. Perhaps you are believing and you're singing along. And there are those of you who have been here from the first day, sticking it out with me, waiting for the waters to part patiently till we get to celebrate and see the fruits of this labour of love. You showed me how much you care by just being there.

So, thank you. This one is for you, my fans whom I call my friends. Follow your dreams."
