Giving Thanks. Diane Venti, owner/operator of the Alki Arts offers her experience where life and journalism collide. Expressing her gratitude for the good work of folks at the West Seattle Blog, Diane shares her story. Peggy Holman, a founder of Journalism That Matters (JTM) & Engaging Emergence author, asked Diane to share her impressions after listening in on, and serving as host, of the November JTM-RJI dinner and dialogue. Lisa Skube, 2010-2011 Reynolds Journalism Institute Fellow, partnered with JTM-PNW to bring the news and information experts together to listen in on their point of view. The conversation focused on the community's needs, ideas for increased collaboration and personal experiences around new models of promotion, engagement, distribution and information exchange. Joining in the conversation was Andrew Sorkin/New Hive, Matt Rosenberg/Public Eye NW, Mike Fancher/Former Seattle Times Editor & RJI Fellow, Stephen Silha/Visionary and Strategist, Sheetal Agarwal/UW PhD student, David Messerschmidt/Public Affairs Media Group, Scott Schaffer/B-Town Blog, Jessica Partrow/Common Language Project-UW, Brian Glanz/Technologist, Jacob Caggiano/WA News Council, John Hamer/WA News Council, John Stang/Features & Investigative Reporting, Karen Rathe/UW prof & prior journalist, Rita Hibbard/Investigative West and Cate Montana/JTM-PNW, with Peggy Homan and Lisa Skube facilitating, and Sean Burke, who was the dude behind the camera. Sean Burke Creative is his moniker. We'll edit and share more of the conversation a little later in December.
Thanks for posting! That was a great evening, so inspired by you all.
