There is a big difference between public schools and private schools in Korea. You should know the differences before you sign the contract. This video describes some of the things you should know about public and private schools.

  • Did you had to pay them for any kind of processing fee or any other sort of fee to get the job?

  • @itubedya Never. Never pay a processing fee to any recruiter.

  • This may sound silly, can u choose to work at both places - public school for day, Hag won (private institute) for evening? If Hag won(s) close their business, you would have a backup.

  • @bamboo4pandabear Most public school contracts stipulate that you can't have any other kind of employment... you aren't supposed to do private tutoring or have any other kind of job while you work in the public schools. Some people do anyway... It also has something to do with the kind of visa that you have. I think an E2 visa only allows you to work at one place. If you work in a high school, sometimes you can teach after school classes in the high school for extra pay. That's about it...

  • i had a question esloutlet: on your website, how do you get the info for the job postings? or are they posted by the schools themselves?

also, is rs-gloii a good recruiting company/hagwon? cause they have a lot of postings that i'm interested in, but i can't find any info on them...thanks!

  • @kyngsoo all the postings are posted by the schools and companies themselves....

  • Another thing, at least with public.....you get paid. That's the most important thing. With a hogwan....you might not get paid on time or in full. Bottom line; you need money and public schools pay 100% of the time. Hagwan's are a tossup.

  • @bamboo4pandabear ...if you get an F visa it is possible. Marriage to a korean national is usually the way. I still wouldn't tell my day job i am working at night but I have done this for nearly 15years now.

  • Say, if I start teaching at a public school in March, will I be able to request for a vacation or days off in May? I also heard stories about schools canceling teacher's requested vacation out of the blue or right when the teacher is about to leave for vacation. Does that happen a lot?

  • I am going for a public school job. Teaching at a hagwon was hell. I was stressed out all the time, the korean coteachers were fickle as hell, the parents are never satisfied, and the american coworkers are backbiting busybodies. I hope to get my public school position soon.

  • Thnak you amazing video

I am going to Korea in September from the UK ...I cant wait

  • I JUST WANTO TO SAY THAT IN PUERTO RICO CAPITAL , THE TEACHER OF PUBLIC SCHOOL AREA MADE, ARE FAILING STUDENT , THEY AREA DESTROYING THE LIFE OF STUDENTS BECAUSE OF A POOR EDUCATION. GIVING D INSTEAD OF F, ............. TEACHERS IN PUERTO RICO MAKE FUN OF STUDENTS, THEY INTIMIDATE STUDENTS, THEY DONT LET THEM TO GO TO THE BATHROOM, THEY VIOLATE AND HATE STUDENT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

  • Do you develop your own lesson plan or do the school lay out what will be taught and how it will be taught?
