I'm of Hungarian decent but could never understand my love of the pipes. I actually helped my son's Royal Canadian Army Cadet corp start a Pipe and Drums band a few years back. Then I discovered that my heritage includes the pipes as well. Nothing like the Highland pipes though. I hope that someday my wife and I can visit Scotland and attend this awesome performance. Thanks for the post.

Chevrons point up in British Army (V shape ) except those on Drum Majors and Pipe Majors which is 4 inverted chevrons with either a drum or pipes above (----) or if your a Staff Coporal in the Household Cavarly (equivalent of Staff Sergeant ) plus off all people to slip during drill a Footguard lol . Love this man gives me chills when I see The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards , Cavarly with their bearskins and White bass drummers bearskin :D

From 1966 - 2008, the BBC presentation commentator was Scottish actor, Tom Fleming, who died last year. The last two years commentator has been Iain Anderson, from BBC Radio Scotland.

why are some chevrons on uniforms right side up, and others are upside down? and does anybody know where the South Australia police are in this? also, who are the "Black watch?" is it special forces?
WPUpioneer 1 year ago
@WPUpioneer The Black Watch is an old Scottish regiment formed originally to "watch" the highlands after the Jacobite uprising and clan fighting. Black comes from the very dark tartan, therefore named Black Watch. Now part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
