So I guess this is my 2011 video.
This year has been far from easy - but I never expected I'd end it the way we have.
At the start of this year I moved away from my first yard - where I'd had all my previous ponies. It was a big change - for a start it was hunting yard full hunters, huge warmbloods and dressage types. It was a huge step up and I lost a huge amount of confidence in my riding.
When winter turned to spring and later to summer Fifi started to become more difficult - her problems with napping made her virtually impossible to ride. She would throw herself around, which used to terrify me. Especially out hacking, we were both incredibly tense and nervous. Most days would involve me getting halfway don the road when Fifi would start a rearing fit - and I would just jump off in tears, angry with myself that I could be the rider she needed.
With the help of my old trainer James I gradually built my confidence back up. I didnt solve her napping - just learnt to sit it. How to ride through it. This gave Fifi confidence and gradually things started to improve - soon I could jump her out round the XC fences at the yard. Eventually I was able jump a small course round a couple of fields, and even jumped a few of the bigger BE Novice fences.
In October following an incident that WAS NOT FIFI OR MY FAULT ( I know certain people are reading this and slating me behind my back) I moved yards again - to the yard I am currently on. And I'm glad to say I've found somewhere where im finally happy. And Fifi is happy. I have the fantastic opportunity to have lessons and learn from the yard owner Olympic eventer Carlos Paro. Fifi has come on a huge amount - she naps a lot less, she's confident in herself and is loving her work - casually popping fences 1m10 in the school like its 2"00. I'm incredibly proud of the progress we've both made over this year and nothing anyone says can change that.
The bond I have with this horse incredible - I know her inside out. Going through so many problems and overcoming them has just made our partnership stronger than ever before. She means so much to me, and I have her to thank for being able to say that year has defiantly been the year I have learnt and overcome the most.
Don't crit me for riding without a hat. I know its not safe - if I die that's my problem.
Thankyou so so much for the gorgeous comments on this video I love you all - and i will reply to you all individually once I've finished my exams! :) xxx
