I know plenty of people that gave up on this show because the first four episodes are slow. But anyone who stays past episode 6 is usually hooked. Friends I've gotten that far into the series just want to finish it that night.

im currently on the 3rd episode. why? because the first episode was so damn confusing i had to find out what was going on xD i love the intro too, no gay japanese girl singer, just beats ^^

Overrated, to me, means people harp on about it constantly and say how amazing it is... I could be wrong! But I don't think this series is as well-known as truly overrated series. Just because people enjoyed it and you didn't doesn't mean it's overrated. That just means you didn't think as highly of it as your friends/tv guides did :P

@cloud4aerith ok, this may be different where i live. the german translation is played on tv from time to time and many people know it. it's even one of the only animes i ever saw a recommendation in a tv-guide-magazine (it that the right word? well i guess you know what i mean).

@humanLucifer But that doesn't equal overrated... at least in the English sense. This anime falls very far under the radar... Sure, you might see it as over-the-top in regard to philosophy etc, but that doesn't mean it's overrated. OVERrated means people rate it too highly... I don't see that happening with this anime. FFVII or Evangelion, sure, you can call them overrated. But Texhnolyze? Can something be overrated if barely anybody knows it exists?

@cloud4aerith it means "überschätzt/überbewertet". yeah, i know it even though english is a foreign language for me. to explain my comment: this anime often gets very good reviews, that's also the reason i watched it. it feels like it has some really deep meaning beneath the story, but once you really think about it, you get nothing more than some standard philosophy you can find in every third scifi-anime

the first few episodes were a real challenge to keep watching, but later it gets much better. well i still think this anime is far overrated
